Why I call myself an unconventional teacher

• 13 years and counting as an educator

• 6 different schools in 4 different states

• Worked in all types of schools: private, public, charter, schools of choice

• Started career without any teaching experience or credential - 8 years later I completed my California Teaching Credential

• Never repeat the same content each year

• Seek new methods and styles of teaching to grow my practice

• No desks in my classroom

• No textbook-driven learning (textbook is a tool we use)

• Spanish students actually speak the language in and out of class

• Project Based Language Learning (a version of PBL for World Language settings)

• Real world applications and audiences for our projects
